This new plug-in into Inventor and Inventor LT 2012 can provide near real time feedback to design decisions you make, while you are developing the plastic product. You will get direct feedback on how the design desisions impact the manufacturability, cost and sustainability of the product. The easy to interpret feedback can ensure that the design process moves in the right direction and that the part is developed to conform to plastic part design guidelines.
This video demonstrates the creation and modification of primitives. I’ll use several primitives to create a simple desk lamp and then apply modifiers to the primitives to better model the necessary shapes. Have you ever wanted to stretch a part to fit into a range of sizes. This example shows how to create a template part that will “stretch” to fit into different assembled sizes.
I have run across a common misconception about the Factory Design Suite and that is it’s ability to work with elevations. This post will talk about a few different ways to work with elevations and some of the functionality that lives inside of this unique set of tools. The main tool I will use is creating sub-layouts that I relate back to layers but really they are sub-assemblies. When creating a sub-layout you have the ability to offset the original flush constraint (consider it a work plane) any positive or negative distance.
